First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage...

Then comes baby!!!

We are so happy to announce that Michael and I will be having a baby in March!

The morning after my Grandmother died, I had a suspicion that I might be pregnant so I took a pregnancy test and it was positive.  That was probably the hardest weekend of my life because my emotions were all over the place.  I was so extremely happy that we would be having a baby and then so sad that my Grandmother was gone.  The week prior I had spent so much time at the hospital with my Grandmother and several nights up there with her.  Less than 24 hours after I held her hand as she passed away I found out that I was pregnant with her great-grandchild.  I think my grandmother knew that I was pregnant because she kept asking me about it when she was in the hospital.  Several times she mentioned things about me being pregnant or that we were going to be great parents.  So the fact that we found out I was pregnant right after she died was so special and like a piece or her continuing on.

We decided to go ahead and tell our family about the baby even though I was only a few weeks pregnant because it was such a special, happy thing in the midst of sadness.  Everyone was so excited and thrilled about a new baby coming to our family.

We had to wait over a month before the doctor would see me for the first time.  That first month felt like it took forever!  I just wanted to know that there really was a baby in there and that everything was okay.  We had our first appointment in August and everything with the baby looked good and they found a strong heartbeat.

Once we found out that everything was good with the baby we decided to go ahead and tell the rest of our family and close friends.  Of course everyone was thrilled and we were so excited we couldn't even wait until I got past my first trimester to tell everyone else and announce it on Facebook.

So far, I've had a really great pregnancy.  Thankfully I didn't have any morning sickness, I was just really tired during my first trimester.  Right now, I am 19 weeks pregnant and feeling great. My official due date is March 23rd, but because of my surgery a year ago (Post 1 and Post 2), the doctor said I will need to have a c-section and he wants to schedule the surgery for 38 weeks because he doesn't want me to have any contractions.  So it looks like I'm at the half-way point and I should have the baby sometime the week of March 10th.

This last Wednesday we had our mid-pregnancy anatomy sonogram.  Everything looks great with the baby!

They were able to determine the sex of the baby.  We decided not to find out the gender during the sonogram and have the technician give the results to my sister.  Later that evening we had a gender reveal party planned so that we could find out along with our friends and family.  The theme of the party was "Our little pumpkin" and everything was pumpkin themed.  My sisters had a box ready and got balloons to put in a box so we could open the box and find out if we were having a boy or girl.

We opened the box and found out It's a BOY!!!!

We already had names picked out if it was a boy or a girl so we decided to make a banner and go ahead and reveal the name during our party.  We decided on Silas Britt, because that was my grandmother's maiden name and we wanted to name him after her somehow.

It's so fun knowing that we are going to have a boy and already being able to call him by his name.  We are so thrilled!!

Here are a few more pictures from the party.
