Birthday Fun!

I think it's safe to say that this was my best birthday ever!  I had almost a whole week of celebrations and had such an amazing time.

My birthday celebrations started off last Wednesday with dinner with my family in Dallas at one of my favorite mexican food restaurants, Pappasito's.  My brother and I have birthdays 3 days apart so we always celebrate together.

Then Friday we had a party at my house with my friends.  We had a fun night of just hanging out and playing Wii games.  Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures.  That's what happens when you are the photographer and it's your own party!

On Saturday (my actual birthday), Michael and I went to breakfast at this place I've been wanting to try for for awhile.  It was so good!  Then we both went to get pedicures!  That was so fun!  I love that he will go do that with me.  He said that pedicures are women's best kept secret, haha!

Every Saturday I work at my church with the kid's and lead the registration/check-in team.  Normally I would have taken off since it was my birthday, but that weekend was promotion weekend and all the kids were moving to new grades so it's just about the busiest weekend of the whole year.  But it was fun being there and celebrating with my church family.  They bought me cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes and we had a mini celebration.

That night after church we went to dinner.  The food was really yummy and they had live music, so fun!

On Sunday I went over to my parents house for what I thought was a welcome home party for my niece.  Little did I know that they were throwing me a surprise birthday party.  In my family they always have over the hill parties as a joke when anyone turns 30, 40, 50, etc.  Well the year of my 30th birthday we had a lot going on in our family and we never had one, so they made up for it this year and surprised me!  It was lots of fun!  I got all kinds of gag gifts for old people including depends, gas relief,   and my Grandmother even gave me her old cane!  We all had a good time being together and celebrating.  I also brought Michael so he was able to meet my whole family and that went really well.  I also got to meet his brother yesterday.  Thing are going really good in our relationship and he definitely helped make my birthday really special!

Weigh-In Wednesday

Last week: 176.3
This week: 173.3
Weekly loss: 3.0lbs
Total loss: 92.0lbs

This week I had another great loss!  I wasn't sure how I would do this week because I had been out to eat a lot, but I did good the rest of the time and stayed pretty active, so that must have helped.  I'm so motivated right now thanks to the challenge and really seeing the weight come off the last several weeks.  I feel like I'm going to keep doing everything I know to do to get to my goal.

My birthday is on Saturday and I have several birthday celebrations planned, including one with my family tonight.  I'm hoping that I can enjoy my birthday celebrations, but still do good the rest of the week and not let that get me off track.

Thanks so everyone for all your kind comments on my blog yesterday.  That meant a lot to me.  It's been a long time since I've been in a relationship and we're both really excited that we found each other and are enjoying spending time together.

Hope everyone has a great week!

I have a boyfriend!

So I guess the title explains it all.  Michael and I met online and started dating a few weeks ago.  We've been spending lots of time together and talking/texting all the time.  This morning we talked and decided to make things official (and even made it Facebook official, haha)!

I'm so very happy and couldn't have asked for anyone better.  He has so many great qualities and we have so much in common.

I wasn't sure when the best time to tell him about my lap-band surgery would be.  I know that some people wait awhile before talking about it.  But I wanted to be open and honest about it because if he wasn't okay with it then he obviously wasn't the right person for me.  So I told him about a week after we started dating and he was so supportive.  His ex-girlfriend had weight loss surgery so he understands all about it and all the hard work that goes into it.  He never tries to be pushy about getting me to eat things and is so respectful about that.  Which is so great, because we've been going out to eat a lot so I'm trying to be careful.  After I told him, he keeps saying how proud he is of me and is so encouraging about me wanting to reach my goals.

So far everything has been great and we're really excited to see what the future holds!

Egg Muffins

I had seen several recipes for egg muffins so I decided to give it a try.  They are so quick and easy and you can make up a big bunch at a time and then freeze them if you want.  You just pull it out and heat it up for a simple on-the-go meal  for only around 80 calories each and very low carb (see nutrition information below).

The great thing about making these muffins is that you can put anything you want in them.  For mine I used 6 eggs, 1 cup of egg whites, reduced fat spicy pork sausage, reduced fat cheese, and spinach.

Start by cooking the meat and chopping the vegatables.

Then mix all the ingredients together and season to taste.

Spray the muffin tin with cooking spray and you should have enough mixture to fill 12 muffin tins.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.  So easy...enjoy!

Weigh-In Wednesday

Last week: 178.0
This week: 176.3
Weekly loss: 1.7lbs
Total loss: 89lbs

This week I had another great loss. I was really proud of myself for still having a good loss when I was away from home so much this week.  I was at the hospital for 3 days and spent 2 nights away from home and still managed to do good with my eating.  This is big progress for me because historically I don't eat well when I get out of my routine and get completely off track when I'm not at home.  Especially since I went 2 nights with no sleep.  So, I'm really happy that some of these habits that I have been working so hard on are starting to pay off.

I still did good with working out, except that I missed one of my scheduled workouts for the week being at the hospital with my sister.

So another new development over the last week is that I met someone online.  We started talking a week and a half ago and were just emailing back and forth, then started texted and calling.  On Sunday night we decided to meet each other and go to dinner.  I wasn't sure how things would go, but we had a really great time and already have dates planned for tomorrow and Sunday.  So that's exciting and we'll see what happens with that.  He's a great guy!

One of my roommates moved out on Sunday :(  I'm going to miss her, but it's a much better situation for her because she will be so close to work and won't have a really long commute every day.  She took her washer and dryer with her, so I needed to buy new ones and I decided to do a little makeover on the laundry room while I was at it.  I think it turned out really cute.  It's kind of hard to tell in the picture, but the walls are a turquoise color.  So fun!

I think that's about all the news I have for now.  Hope you all are doing great!

Weigh-In Wednesday

Okay this is going to be a quick blog because it's late, but wanted to post my weigh-in numbers for the week.

Last week 179.8
This week 178.0
Total loss of 1.8

This week I did pretty good with eating and working out and it definitely showed on the scale!  I had a couple of meals that weren't the best, but for the most part I stayed on track with my eating and did good with my workouts.

The challenge that I'm participating in has mini challenges along the way and this last week the challenge was to find an accountability partner and text each other how you are doing each day.  Ronnie and I decided to be partners and that really helped me stay accountable knowing that I was going to have to tell her how I did each day.

I'm excited and motivated to keep working as hard as possible.

Hope you all have a great week and keep making good choices!

Sophie's Baby Shower

On Sunday we had a family baby shower for my sister Alicia.  We had it only 2 days before her due date so that my other sister could attend when she got back from Honduras.  So we were cutting it really close, but thankfully Sophie waited to come until after the shower.

We had such a great time and she got so many wonderful gifts.  Here are a few pictures from the shower.

All the gifts!
We sent this poem out with the invite and everybody brought books.

One small request that won't be too hard, please bring a book instead of a card. Whether Cat in the Hat or Winnie the Pooh, you can sign the book with a note from you. Baby Sophie will be very smart indeed, if we start early she will soon learn to read.

My aunt and cousins made Sophie this bookcase to hold all of her books.  So cute!

Playing games

One of my gifts for Sophie.  Do you think it'll work? :)

Today is Alicia's due date so Sophie should be here any day now!
