Back from DC and Headed to Houston

I made it back from DC yesterday and I leave for Houston in the morning.  I had a great trip last week.   From the moment I woke up to the time I laid my head on the pillow I was working.  I had every intention of working on in the hotel gym while I was there and that didn't happen one time.  :(  We were in training all day and then would go out to dinner and then my boss and I would go back to the hotel and work on everything we needed to get done before the next day of training in the morning.  Every night I worked until 11:30-12:00 at night.  So needless to say it wasn't the best week in terms of my exercise and working out.  Although I did good on my meals, I snacked way more than I usually do.  I think it was just being in training and having snacks around me all the time which I'm not used to.  So I wouldn't say this week was a total fail, but it didn't go as planned either.  We'll see what the scale says in the morning.  My boss did comment that I eat like a bird, haha!

I was a little nervous how the training would go because we had a lot of important people from our client in the room, but it went great.  Yesterday I got an email from my boss's, boss's boss that she heard that we did a great job with the training and was very complimentary, so I was stoked about that!  Every night that we went to dinner it was with my boss, her boss and some of their peers.  Everyone was a lot higher up than me and it was good exposure for me to spend time with them and hopefully this week will be a good career boost for me.

Here is a picture from one of our breakout training sessions.  This was about a third of the people that were in the big class, but I forgot to take a picture of that.

When I got to DC it was snowing like crazy.  I was a little concerned because I've never driven in the snow before.  Whenever it snows in Dallas, the whole city shuts down and since I work from home I don't even leave the house.  I think the lady at the car rental place felt bad for me and she gave me an SUV so drive.  The good thing was that the snow didn't stick at all so it was just really beautiful, but I didn't have to worry about nasty roads.

The day that I left, I had a little extra time before my flight so I decided to drive around DC and do a little sightseeing.  It was a beautiful 60 degree day so I got some great pictures!

Hopefully this next week will be better and I'll get some workouts in and make better food choices.  I have tons of stuff to do before I leave in less than 24 hours.  I'll try to post my weekly weigh-in blog and video tomorrow.

Have a great week!

  1. Sounds like you had a productive and great trip! I would have been very nervous about driving in snow too!! We shut everything down here in Tn too when we even see a snowflake :)

  2. We've been saying at work it would be so much better if it would just stick to snowing on grassy areas only. No walking/driving dangers.

Your photos look amazing. DC is one of my MUST SEE one day cities.

Try not to judge yourself. You couldn't have done anything differently and you may yet surprise yourself with how you do. Keep us posted. xx

  5. Funny part is that you happened to be here the ONE time it snowed and stuck so far this winter! Too bad I don't pay more attention and/or knew you were here - I could have met up with you at some point (not sure when, since you were so busy)!

  10. I love DC! I've only been once but can't wait to go back. I think it's ok if you didn't get into the gym! Your days sounded productive but like Hell!!

And I can't believe you drove around! Those streets were so confusing to me when I went! I ended up going in circles! lol.
