I'm Thankful For...My Roommates
I'm thankful today for my roommates. For the last 5 years, my sister and I lived together. At the beginning of this year she decided that she needed to move closer to work so she didn't have such a long commute.
So I decided I needed to find roommates. I would have been able to afford my house, but money would have been really tight. I asked around to several friends at church and didn't find anybody for a few weeks. One day I was at a friend's house and she asked me if I had found roommates yet. Erin and Ashley happened to be there and hear the conversation and they were actually both looking for a place to live. They have been roommates and best friends for several years and wanted to stay together and I had two bedrooms upstairs available. After talking about it and them coming over to see the house, they decided to move in. So in February of this year they moved in my house. It has been such a wonderful situation! It's so nice to have help paying the bills and the mortgage and they are so great! They always keep things picked up and help with cleaning. We haven't had any fights or times of not getting along. I am so thankful, because you want your home to be your sanctuary and if you don't get along or are constantly annoyed that's really hard. They have the whole upstairs to themselves so they have their own space and I have my room downstairs.
They have a dog and our dogs get along too! I had been praying for God to bring along just the right roommates and that our home would be a peaceful place and He did! We had separately led Bible study groups at our house and we recently decided to merge our groups and co-lead together. Things have been great! We enjoy having girls over to our house every week and it has been a smooth transition.
I couldn't have asked for a better situation and I am so thankful for them!
