I'm Thankful For...My Church

Today I am so thankful for my church.  It's more than just a place for me to go on Sundays.  It has truly become a community for me.  I have so many wonderful friendships and every week I love going.  It doesn't just feel like something that I have to check off my list.

Every week I spend about 10 hours a week here.  I volunteer once a week at the church offices and work at the little desk in the picture below.

On Saturday's I head up the check-in team for our elementary kids. I love being with the kids and getting to know the families at our church.

On Thanksgiving day, 2 years ago, my pastor had a seizure and was rushed to the hospital.  They discovered a large tumor in his brain.  They had to operate and he has gone through radiation and chemo for 18 months.  As of his scan last month, there is no visible sign of cancer!  It has really been amazing to see his family face this hardships and still say that God is good in all of it.
Article on MSNBC about my pastor and his journey with cancer -

This is a video he did the day before brain surgery.

I am so blessed to be a part of such an amazing church and to have found a place that really feels like home.

  1. Wow! That is one huge church!! My church only had about 15 people that went every week and they were all really old...
I think if we had one here that was big and full of energy I might go..
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. I love your "thankful" posts - they make me smile.
