Weekly Weigh-In #16

This week I lost 1.0lb for a total of 48.5lbs lost.  I'm definitely happy for the loss, but I didn't do my best this week.  I did good getting in all of my planned workouts, but I kind of slacked a little on the eating.  Nothing horrible, but I know I could have made better food choices this week.  That's ok, I am planning on working really hard this week before I head out on vacation.

If anyone is on My Fitness Pal, look me up!  My username is andrealeigh23 or send me your email and I will add you.

Speaking of vacation, does anyone have any helpful tips for eating good/exercising while on vacation?  It makes me a little nervous to be away from having access to the foods I normally eat and not sure if I'll have trouble eating things or will be able to find healthy choices that agree with my band.  Any suggestions would definitely be appreciated!

So the private island didn't end up working out because their house is currently under construction, but we were able to get a condo on the island of Roatan that is so beautiful!  The 2nd largest barrier reef in the world is right outside of the resort and you can just swim out to it for amazing snorkeling.  Here are some pictures of the resort.  I'm so excited.  We will stay here for 3 nights, in Tegucigalpa where my sister lives for 3 nights and then I'll be in South Florida for another 3 nights.
This is the resort and you can see the barrier reef right out front

So here is my plan before I leave on Saturday (6 days)!
  • Workout 5 days.  (3 days cardio/strength and 2 days yoga)
  • Plan my meals with healthy food choices
  • Eat only planned food
  • Take vitamins
  • Drink at least 64 oz of water

Hope everyone has a great week! Just FYI to my secret bandit, your September gift will go out in the mail this week!  :)

Wedding Weekend

The wedding that I was in this weekend was so much fun!  We all had a blast and everything went smoothly.  Warning, this post includes TONS of pictures! :)

On Friday morning I left to drive up to Oklahoma (it's about a 3 hour drive).  We all met up to check into the hotel and get ready for the rehearsal.
The hotel lobby (the picture does not do it justice)
Friday evening was the rehearsal, it was at a vineyard and it was just so beautiful!  The weather could not have been more perfect.  After that we went to the rehearsal dinner at a steak house called Mickey Mantle's.  It was amazing!  The food was so good and we all had such a good time hanging out and telling stories of the bride and groom.

Then the next morning we went to brunch and then went to the vineyard to get ready.  We all had so much fun getting our hair and makeup done and just spending time together.  We had to take lots of pictures before the wedding and then the wedding started at 7:00.  The reception was in a barn there at the vineyard and it was just magical!

These last pictures are from http://www.angelporchphotography.com/.  They are not mine, but I got them from the sneak peak off their facebook page.  So beautiful!

Weekly Weigh-in #15 (Part 2)

I'm back!  I missed everybody and thanks for those who checked on me!  I was able to get caught up on reading all your blogs and I tried to comment when possible.

Things have been so busy but it's been lots of fun and I've been able to continue to make good food choices and keep my workout schedule.

Sometimes it's hard because I get so into my routine and get thrown off when I'm not at home or don't have access to the food that I usually eat.  So these next few weeks will be a challenge to make good choices with my eating (especially being in another country).

This last week I lost 2 pounds.  I am starting to feel so much better physically and mentally and I'm really noticing some changes in the way I feel.  A huge NSV for me this weekend was after the wedding and seeing all the pictures that people took, I didn't hate them!  Usually I hate pictures of me and used to think that almost all pictures looked horrible and after seeing the pictures from the wedding, I actually think I looked good in some of them!!  Love that!  (Another post coming soon with wedding pictures).

Here is my first attempt at before and after pictures.  The before pictures were taken the night before surgery so at that point I had already lost 19 pounds and the after pictures are my weekly pictures taken on Friday.  It's cool to already be able to see a big difference in 3 months!

Awhile back I had posted about going with a "friend" to a lap-band consultation.  Well I'm so happy to be able to tell you that the friend I was referring to was my sister and she has decided to have lap-band surgery...yay!!!  I am so excited for her!!  Her surgery is scheduled for October 14th, with my doctor, Dr. Marsden.  I know how much that it has already changed my life and I know it's going to be so great for her!

I talked to my other sister in Honduras this morning preparing for our trip and she had an opportunity come up where we might be able to stay on a private island off the coast of Honduras.  A lady that she works with there has a sister who owns a major airline and they have a private island with a full staff!  She said as long as they are not planning on being there during that time that we could stay there for free!  I'm super excited and really hope this works out.  How fun would that be?!?!  We're supposed to know tonight if we can stay there or not.

So my goals for this week are to workout a minimum of 3 days per week (Mon, Wed, Fri cardio/strength training) and Tuesday/Thursday yoga.  Continue to stay around 1200-1400 calories per day, get in as much water as possible, take my vitamins, and track my food.

Hope everyone has a great week!

As usual the video pretty much says the same thing that I did in my post, with the exception of wedding pictures posted at the end.  I'll post those in a separate blog too.

Weekly Weigh-in #15

Weekly Weigh-In #14

This week I lost 2 pounds for a total of 45.5 pounds lost since the beginning of April and 26.8 since surgery on May 27th.  I'm super excited because I am now in the "2 teens" and my BMI is now at 38.  That puts me in the just obese category and not morbidly obese!!!  I couldn't be more thrilled with how things are going.  I'm definitely working hard at it, but it's paying off!

I had a couple NSV's this week.  1) I went to get a massage.  Now this might not seem like a big deal for some, but for me it is!  I used to love getting massages, but I had stopped in the last couple of years because I was embarrassed of the way my body looked and just thought it would be awkward for a stranger to be rubbing on me and we would both be uncomfortable.  Well not anymore!  I still have a long way to go, but I feel good about myself and I'm not letting my body stop me from doing things anymore!!!  2) I looked down yesterday and just saw my boobs!  I didn't see my stomach sticking out past them!  Yay!!!

These last few weeks have been so crazy and this month is going to get even worse!  I'm in my BFFs wedding next weekend out of town so next week is all filled up with fun wedding stuff!  Then I leave on the 24th for 10 days to go visit my sister in Honduras and then my best friend in South Florida!  I'm can't wait for all of these things, September is going to be a great month!  I'll be sure to update and post lots of pictures!

I found out something interesting this week when I went with a friend to a lap-band consultation with my doctor.  Two different people there told us that they've found it's now okay to drink while you are eating.  This is news to me and must have changed in the last couple of months.  I was originally told that you shouldn't drink while eating because it will help push the food through the band and you won't get the full feeling.  What my doctor and a PA there said was that your food only stays in your upper pouch for 45 seconds to a minute and that drinking between bites is not going to make a difference.  Have any of you heard this?  Not sure how I feel about it, but I would LOVE to start drinking more while I am eating.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and for those in the U.S., Happy Labor Day!  Enjoy the long weekend!
