Weekly Weigh-In #5

This week I lost 1.4 pounds for a total of 18.3 since the Lap-Band.  I was kind of hoping for a higher number, but as long as it's moving in the right direction I am happy.  There wasn't much more that I could have done, so I know I worked hard and I feel good about it.  I was able to stick to most of my goals, with the exception of getting the amount of water that I wanted to drink.  I tracked all my food and worked out several days this week.  Every day I stayed between 800-1000 calories.  My Fitbit was really fun to use this week and I enjoyed trying to do more every day!

On the exercise front, I was able to finally start working out a little harder and using weights!  I tried to go easy on the first day and not lift very much and only do 6 machines and then the second day I stepped it up a little and did 8 machines and added more weight.  In between each machine I do a walk around the track.  My ultimate plan is do do walking/running with strength training three times a week and the other 2-3 days doing yoga, zumba, or water aerobics.  I'm still working up to that, but I'll get there!

Speaking of Zumba, so many people are talking about it and it really makes me want to try!  I read several reviews about the Wii Zumba, including Lap Band Gal's so I decided to try it.   Since I've never done Zumba before I'm a little intimidated to go to a class so I figured this would be a good way to learn some moves in private before I embarras myself in public! Haha!  I'll let you know how it goes.  I'm anxious to join the Zumba bandwagon and sweat off some calories by dancing!

Another exciting thing that happened this week is that I bought tickets to visit my sister in Honduras!  I am super excited!  She moved down there in February to work with a missions organization and will probably be there for at least 2 years.  As I was searching flights there, I changed my dates so that I wouldn't have an overnight layover in Miami.  Then as I was about to buy my tickets, I realized that I if I had an overnight layover in Miami I could hangout with my best friend who lives 2 hours away in Naples.  Then I found out that I could extend that layover.  So I am going to visit my sister for 6 days and then spend 3 days in Naples with my best friend!  All in one ticket that I purchased with airline miles!  Woohoo!!  I am ecstatic!  I went to Florida for my best friend's wedding in January, but with everything else that I'm doing I didn't think I would be able to see her again this year.  Only downside to this is that I will be in Honduras the same weekend as BOOBS so I will miss getting to go to that :( I am going to stay with my sister for 3 days in the mountains where she lives, but then we are going to stay on the beach for 3 days.  Here are some pictures...so beautiful!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and for those of us in America, Happy 4th of July!  Have fun celebrating and be safe!

Here is my weekly update vlog.  As always, it mostly has the same information but here it is if you want to watch it!

  2. That's a great loss, sounds like you're getting as much as you should be - 1-2 lbs.

I'm sad that you won't be coming to BOOBs, but at least you'll get to see your sister, which is more important. :)

  4. Yay girl!! Congrats on the loss. Also woo going to Honduras. So jealous.

As for Zumba, I may get the zumba for PS3 for backup when it's cold and we don't have work or something, but I love live Zumba. It's so much fun to get into it with the class!

  7. Your trip sounds amazing. Maybe your "Band Sister" shoud come along :-)
I know this sounds counterproductive but I was told to make sure my calories were closer to 1200. I fount that I actually seem lose more that way. From what I understand anything around 1000 or less will put your body into starvation mode and the caveman genes in our body think food is scarce and try to hold onto it. Think about trying to increase with some good protein and see if it accelerates your weight loss.

  8. Good job! And that's awesome about the trip. I've always wanted to go to Honduras. Let us know about the Zumba game. I play Just Dance 2 a lot and do it in sweat mode and just dance dance dance but I've also been considering getting the Zumba too. :)

  10. What area of town are you in again? I was thinking that sometime we would have to get together and Wii. (That sounded funny, ha!) None of my friends will play. :)
