2nd Fill

Went to the doctor this morning for my second fill.  Things went well and she found the port on the first try.  She said everything looked good and added 1cc to my band.  So that makes a total of 6cc's in my 10cc band.  My doctor put 2.4 in during surgery, then 4 weeks after, they added 2.6.  So 6 1/2 weeks out from surgery I have 6.  Part of me thinks that is really fast compared to what I hear from other people, but then it's kind of nice to be able to get to the green zone faster.  I also wonder though why they do it so fast and schedule fills every 3 weeks where a lot of other people wait 6 weeks in between fills.  What has been your experience and has anyone heard why they wait longer in between fills?  I can always reschedule, but they keep scheduling me in 3 week increments.  Just thought I would get thoughts from y'all about it.

I am feeling so much better!  I started to feel a little better yesterday, but today I feel a lot better!  I'm not 100% yet, but I'm getting there and I'm so thankful!  Being sick is no fun!  The good thing is that I didn't feel like the sickness affected my band much and I didn't feel tighter because of it.

Catching up on everyone's blogs today.  Hope y'all are doing great on the challenge (for those who are participating)!

  2. I am glad you are feeling better.
I still have not had any fills. Next week is my first. But I think my experience is the exception, not he rule from what I read from everyone's blogs.

  3. After the 6 week wait, my surgeon would fill me once a week if I wanted. I think three weeks is just fine. It amazes me how different all of our doctors are.

  4. I was filled for the first time at 7 weeks. I had my second fill about another 6 weeks after the first. I have a total of about 4 ccs in my 10cc band. I also noticed absolutely zero change after my 2nd fill. I still get hungry about every three hours, but I'm ok with that. I don't think I'm going to get any more fill because I don't mind having a low calorie protein snack to tied me over until the next meal. I'd rather be too loose then too tight.

  5. I want YOUR doctor, mine is bawking at me for having 5 cc's... he says I should be WAY too tight and is saying I should NOT get another fill. (What the hell?!)

  7. That DOES seem fast but I couldn't even get my first fill (he put a little in during surgery) until 8 weeks out. I only have 4.5 in my band but I've also only had 3 fills in a year. My doing, not the doc's. I just haven't needed to be very aggressive. I have my next fill appt in a couple weeks. Can't wait as I'm definitely not in the green zone anymore.

  8. yay for fills! I'm getting my second one too. I'm hoping it means I won't be so hungry I feel nauseous 4 hours after a small meal. I think I really like your doctors approach to fills though.

  9. Do we have the same Dr.? I go for my 2nd fill tomorrow too! I think I will be at 6cc tomorrow, as well. I did have some restriction the first two weeks of my first fill ( or so I thought) i don't feel as much now. Glad you are feeling better!!!

  10. I had my first fill at 6 weeks after surgery, but once that took place they let me come back every 2-4 weeks as needed. I went a lot my first 8 months or so until I got where I needed to be. Be thankful you have an office that lets you come when you need it.

  13. I had my first fill 4 weeks after surgery - 4 cc's. I was on "empty" up until that point. I then went monthly and am now at 7 (haven't been since January). I am hoping for a full cc Monday!!! I'm going to BEG until he gives it to me!!!

  14. My doc filled me a little faster then some. But he wanted me to get "there" and then he slowed down as I started to get to a good spot.

  15. I'm going to see the doctor today. I may be getting my first fill. My banded buddy who had her surgery 2 weeks prior to me has an appt right after mine and she still hasn't been filled at 6 weeks out.

  16. I think my surgeon's office may be on the aggressive side - first fill was 3 weeks out, and then planned for every 3-4 weeks after that until I got to a good level. The fills will definitely slow down after a few months as you get tighter, and also be much smaller.

  17. I had my first fill just over one month from surgery. Now I go every 4-5 weeks. I am 3,500 miles from my doctor, so going every 3 weeks would be a bit too much for me. So far I have had 4 fills (Jan, Feb, none in March, April, May, and none in June). My May fill was only .1, and I think I could use a baby fill in August.

  20. I had this problem as well. Don't worry though I've shedded 50 pounds in the last 18 months. I just wanted to mention a site that helped with my loose skin problems after my weight loss it called skin tightening. Thanks and good luck :)
