So I wake up this morning and it's 81 degrees in the house at 7:00 in the morning! UGHHHHH!!!!!!! The AC unit outside is not coming on at all!  This really sucks!  I called my home warranty company and they called around and found a company that is able to come out today.  Fingers crossed that they will be able to get it fixed!  I really don't know how people in Texas (or anywhere else) survived without AC. This is miserable and it's only going to get worse before it gets better!  On the bright side I will probably sweat off a bunch of calories today!  :)

UPDATE: The AC repair company came out and replaced the capacitor, but said that the unit is on it's last leg and will probably die within a week.  They recommended getting a new outside unit and upgrading to a better one (from a 10 seer to a 13 seer).  My home warranty company covers part of it and I would have to pay $2,000.  He said it would cut my electricity bills in half and help cool the house better.  So I think I'm going to go ahead and do that and they can come first thing Monday morning to install it.  The good news is they got it working and it's starting to cool down.  YAY!

Weekly Weigh-In #9

I saw this picture on a friend's blog and loved it!  It's good to refocus sometimes and remember what is important in life and to enjoy those things!

This week I lost 2.2 pounds for a total loss of 38.3 pounds.  I'm so excited that the weight is coming off and each week I am feeling better and better!  I had a fill scheduled for next Tuesday but I cancelled it because I'm feeling good with the amount I have in my band right now.  I haven't been feeling as hungry and I notice myself getting full much faster.  I definitely don't want to be too tight so I am going to stick with this for a little while and see how I feel in a few weeks.

Last night I went out with a bunch of friends for a going away party for one of my best friends.  She is moving to Oklahoma this weekend and I am so sad.  It's only 3 hours away so it will be easy to go visit, but it will still be hard to not see her all the time :(

This weekend is pretty quiet which is good, because it feels like things have been non-stop for awhile now.  I'm looking forward to getting some things done around the house and working on a few projects.

Now that I am finally feeling better I need to get back into a workout routine.  I worked out this morning and it felt so good.  I like working out at the gym, but my roommate has tons of workout videos so I may try that for a little while and see how that goes.  What is your favorite workout or your weekly workout routine? (Vote to the right of this post or explain in comments)  I need to set a schedule and stick to it, but at this point I'm not sure what I want to do.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  I'll leave you with my post-workout "glow" from this morning.

2 Month Bandiversary and Weekend Update

Today is my 2 month bandiversary!  In some ways if feels like these last 2 months have flown by and in other ways it feels like it's taking forever!  I still have not once regretted my decision and I am so excited for what is to come!

So here are the numbers: Since April I have lost 36 pounds (17.5 since surgery) and a total of 21 inches! My clothes are definitely fitting me differently and I have noticed differences in many other areas.

I had an NSV for the wedding that I am in.  I was measured for the dress before I had the lap-band surgery and I let her know that I was going to have it, so we ordered it a size smaller.  I picked the dress up last week and it is HUGE on me.  It's going to take a lot of alterations to get it to fit, especially because we still have a month and half before the wedding, but it's definitely a good problem to have!

We had a bachelorette party this weekend for that wedding and all the girls in the wedding party went to Fredericksburg, TX for the weekend.  We had so much fun!  The first night we went out to dinner and then went back to the hotel for Holly's lingerie shower.  The next morning the limo picked us up and we went on a wine tour to 3 different wineries and a Bourbon distillery.  We had so much fun!  That night we went out on the town and had a blast!

Here are some pictures.

I drove home really late on Saturday night so I could get back in town to have lunch with some amazing blog friends!  It was so nice to meet and re-connect with Ronnie, Beth Ann, Debi, Dawnya and hang out!  I love getting together with people who know exactly what you're going through and we had a blast together!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!! <3 Love y'all!

New Blogger!

When I logged into my blog this morning, I saw that I had a new follower.  Her name is Bel and she was banded in 2009, but after having a baby is getting back to basics to continue losing the weight.  Go show her some blogger love.

I'm back from my trip and excited to meet some of my blogging friends today.  I'm trying to get caught up on some blogs and comments this morning.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Weekly Weigh-In #8

This week I lost 3.6 pounds!  Woohoo!  I'm super pumped about that and happy to see a new decade!  I got a new scale last week because my other one was on the fritz.  I weighed on both and this one was a pound lower, so I guess I really only lost 2.6lbs, but I'm going with this number! :)  Can I just say that this new scale is great, but I have to strategically take the picture on it because otherwise you can see my naked body on the shiny scale!  I'm glad I realized that before I posted it, haha!

Feeling much better after yesterday's stuck incident.  I was a little sore afterwards, but it passed pretty quickly.  My muscle soreness near my port is gone too.  I don't know if it was from the fill or what, but it went away after a few days.  That was weird, it was almost as sore as it was after I had surgery.  It's been gone for several days now so I'm really glad about that!

This weekend is packed with lots of fun things.  I'm heading out of town for a bachelorette party for my friend Holly.  There are 7 girls going and we've got lots of fun things planned including being picked up by a limo on Saturday and going on a wine tour.  I'm excited that I finally starting to feel better so I can enjoy the weekend!  On Sunday I have to leave by 6am to drive back to Dallas so I can meet up with the Texas BOOBS!  It's going to be so fun to meet these awesome ladies!  Then I have a birthday party Sunday at 6:00.  It's going to be a jam packed weekend, but super fun!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

My First Stuck Episode

*Warning - This is kind of a gross post, but I wanted to document it for me and for others who have already or might experience this.

I just had my first stuck episode.  That's what I get for recording a YouTube video last night talking about how I haven't had any stuck/PB episodes!  I have been so careful so that this didn't happen, but with this latest fill I guess some of the things I ate before are not going to work anymore.

For lunch I made Chicken & Dumplings.  I made a low-cal version that I've made before and never had any problems with it.  After a few bites, my chest started feeling really tight and I knew what was happening!  Thankfully, I have all of you that have told me about the feeling so I wasn't worried about having a heart attack! Haha!  It lasted for about 10 min.  I tried walking around, stretched up my arms and then took a papaya enzyme but I think it was too late by that point.  My lunch decided to come back up.  Once I threw up I felt so much better and it was pretty much over.  It definitely wasn't like normal throwing up, it just kind of comes up without all the retching.

As much as I didn't want to experience that, in a way I'm kind of glad that I did.  It will definitely help me to avoid eating dumplings which are a weakness (and I probably should not have been eating them anyway).

I think I'll probably just have some soup or a protein drink for dinner.  Because my throat and chest still feel a little tight.

Does anyone have any suggestions for or different experiences with getting stuck?

Weekly Weigh-In #7/Challenge Week 2

Hi Blog Friends!  Sorry I've been MIA this week!  I have been so busy and I haven't had spare minute to post or read blogs in the last several days.  I'm hoping to get caught up today.

This week I'm combining my weekly weigh-in and challenge posts since I got really behind.  I lost 0.8 pounds this week.  Not great, but still a loss.  This week I have still not been feeling very good, but a lot better than I was.  I called the doctor yesterday after I got done taking antibiotics for 10 days and still feeling crappy to find out if I should go back in or what, but I haven't heard back yet.  I just want to be back to 100% and start working out again.  I think that's part of the reason I didn't lose much this week because I didn't workout one time.  I'm just not feeling well enough.  Also, I've been having really bad  pain off and on in my stomach on the side where my port is.  I'm not sure what it is.  It kind of feels like really bad muscle pain.  There is no redness or pain around the incision area.  So I don't know what it is. It makes me kind of nervous, but it could just be sore and maybe was irritated by the fill I had this week?  Has anyone else experienced anything like that?

Update: The pain went away the day after I posted this and hasn't hurt since then.  I'm not sure what it was, but I'm happy it's gone!

Even though I haven't been feeling well, I still managed to have some fun.  My sister has been on vacation for the last 2 weeks in New Zealand and came back on Wednesday.  So Thursday my family all went to lunch together and then my sister and I spent the day together and then watched all of the episodes of Big Brother together since she has been out of town since it started.  We both love watching that show and enjoy watching it together.  So it was fun to spend time with her and catch up.

My cousin Rusty is a pro MMA fighter and he had his first fight in the Dallas are (that was televised on HDNET) so we were all able to go watch.  This was the first fight I've watched or been to so it was quite the experience, but it was so fun and of course it made it better that he won!  We had some family in town this weekend too so it's been super busy.  I plan to take the day today and get some things done around the house, rest up, and catch up on some blogs!

Hope everyone is doing great!  I'll leave you with some pictures from the fight.

2nd Fill

Went to the doctor this morning for my second fill.  Things went well and she found the port on the first try.  She said everything looked good and added 1cc to my band.  So that makes a total of 6cc's in my 10cc band.  My doctor put 2.4 in during surgery, then 4 weeks after, they added 2.6.  So 6 1/2 weeks out from surgery I have 6.  Part of me thinks that is really fast compared to what I hear from other people, but then it's kind of nice to be able to get to the green zone faster.  I also wonder though why they do it so fast and schedule fills every 3 weeks where a lot of other people wait 6 weeks in between fills.  What has been your experience and has anyone heard why they wait longer in between fills?  I can always reschedule, but they keep scheduling me in 3 week increments.  Just thought I would get thoughts from y'all about it.

I am feeling so much better!  I started to feel a little better yesterday, but today I feel a lot better!  I'm not 100% yet, but I'm getting there and I'm so thankful!  Being sick is no fun!  The good thing is that I didn't feel like the sickness affected my band much and I didn't feel tighter because of it.

Catching up on everyone's blogs today.  Hope y'all are doing great on the challenge (for those who are participating)!

Back to Basics Challenge - Week 1

Here is my weight for the Back to Basics challenge this week.  I lost 3.6 pounds from last  Sunday so I'm super pumped about that, especially since I've been sick all week!  I did try and up my calories this week from 800-1,000 to 1,000-1,200.  I think that helped and will be better especially when I start working out more.

Also, here are my body shots for this week.  Hope everyone is doing great on the challenge!  Keep up the good work!!!

Weekly Weigh-In #6

This week I lost 1.6 pounds for a total loss of 19.9 pounds since surgery and 32 pounds since April!  I'm actually happy with that because I have been laying around all week from being sick and haven't worked out once.  So hopefully I will start feeling better really soon and will get back to working out next week!

Not much has been happening this week, but things are good.  I go on Tuesday for my second fill and I'm going to two support group meetings next week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Sorry, I look like crap in the video!  I promised myself that I was going to make a weekly update video so I still wanted to do it even though I felt awful.  Haha!

My First Blog Award and NSV

Thanks to Little Red Riding Hoods Adventures in Band Land for nominating me for my very first blog award and for the kind words!

This weekend I had two NSVs that I thought were fun.  First a girl that I am friends with who doesn't know that I am losing weight or had the  surgery asked if I had been losing weight.  She was the first person that noticed and It was a nice feeling.  Then I saw this guy that I know that I usually see once a week and he told me I looked different.  He was like "did you cut your hair or something, you look really different".  Haha!  I hadn't changed anything.  He kept asking so I said well I have been losing weight and he said "Yeah that's what it is"!  I've had some people tell me that before, but they knew about the surgery so I wonder if they really did notice a difference or are just saying that.   So it's nice that people who have no idea are starting to notice!

Onto the award...

The Rules
* Thank the person who gave you this award and link back to them in your post
* Tell us 10 things about yourself
* Nominate your bloggers
* Contact these bloggers and let them know you have nominated them
  1. I have struggled with my weight since high school.
  2. In 2006 I lost 75 pounds doing Medifast.  The problem was as soon as I stopped, and because I hadn't really changed my eating habits and learned to eat the right things, I gained all of the weight (and more) back.  I went back to school in 2007 and all of the stress of being in school full-time and working full-time was what drove me to food for comfort.
  3. In April of 2011 I decided to get the Lap-Band and I had my surgery on May 27, 2011.  So far it's been the best decision I have made for my health!
  4. I'm the oldest of 5 kids and I definitely fit the oldest child profile!
  5. I was home-schooled along with my siblings from 4th grade through high school.
  6. In 1992, when I was 12 years old, I was nominated for a Grammy award for the collaboration work I did on a children's album.
  7. I've been working for the same company for almost 12 years (since I was 19)!  I am so fortunate to have a job that I love and have had many opportunities within my company for advancement.
  8. I love to travel!  I have been to many countries including Spain, Romania, Belgium, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Dominican Republic, and several others.  One of the reasons I want to lose weight is to be able to more easily travel and enjoy my time when visiting other countries.
  9. I bought my first house when I was 25.  I decided that I wasn't going to wait around for a husband and just did it on my own.  It's been a learning experience and hard at times, but I've definitely made money on it and it's been fun!
  10. Speaking of houses, last year I decided to get my real estate license.  My mom owns a real estate company so I work part-time for her, just helping friends and family with their real estate needs. It's definitely not an easy job, but it is rewarding and I love being able to help people.
I nominate Stace and Robyn for this award.  They are both new bloggers and I love their blogs!  Robyn and I were banded on the same day so we're band sisters! :)

So for the THIRD time this year I have strep throat!  Boo!  Luckily this time it's not as bad as before except the giant pus balls at the back of my throat.  I had a fever yesterday, but it broke last night.  I was so mad because I was all geared up to workout hard this week and start the challenge off right and now I'm stuck in bed!

Oh well I'm still staying under calories and will get back to working out hopefully really soon!

I had a great holiday weekend and loved spending time with my friends and family.  Here is a shot of my brothers and cousins playing dominoes (Texas 42).  I'm a horrible picture taker and hardly got any shots all weekend, but we had so much fun!

Big Brother is one of my favorite shows and it starts tomorrow night.  I am really excited about it!  Last year I wasted so much time online watching the live camera feeds in the house.  So this year I've decided I'm not doing that, but I'm still really excited about the show.

I've gotten so behind on reading everyone's blogs but now that I'm stuck in bed I'll be able to catch up.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day to all of my American friends.  I love the 4th of July!  There is just something about being with family and friends and feeling a sense of patriotism for our great country and being thankful for the rights and freedoms that we enjoy.  I'm headed over to my parent's house to celebrate.  We are having both my mom and dad's side of the family over (about 50 people) and having BBQ, playing dominoes and watching the fireworks from the deck or their lake view house.

I hope everyone has a great day celebrating!
